Dr. Renee Baskerville, M.D., Mayorial Candidate
Montclair is my hometown, that of my father and my grandfather. I come urging all Montclairions who believe in “We the People,” the power and potency of Democracy, the Beloved Community of humankind, and the possibility of an effective, new municipal government team, working with you to make Montclair a more prosperous, inclusive, just, safe and secure, thriving community for all.
James Cotter, Councilor At-Large
James has lived in Montclair for 32 years. He is married to Mary Sok and has two children, Felix and Ronan, who attend Watchung Elementary. Cotter has lived in every Ward of Montclair. He has been a renter, a landlord and the owner of a two-family and a single-family home. Cotter has a long history of service in Montclair, rooted in neighborhood advocacy, community organizing, volunteering, fundraising, and arts and cultural programming.
Peter Yacobellis, Councilor At-Large
Peter has dedicated his life to public service. He served as a search and rescue worker at ground zero after 9/11, worked in the press office for Senator Hillary Clinton and as an official in the administration of Governor Cuomo, where he helped pass marriage equality, led various LGBTQ policy initiatives and ran rent stabilization office and the Hurricane Sandy Command Center.

John Hearn, 1st Ward Councilor
John came to Montclair with his family in 2012, after living in New York City for nearly 20 years. He and his wife, Nicole, have two children, Hudson and Vivian. Hudson is a freshman at Montclair High School, and Vivian is a fourth-grader at Hillside. Nicole works in New York as a talent agent and has been active for years as a volunteer with the local PTA.
Christina M. Thomas, JD, MBA, 2nd Ward Councilor
Christina is a lifelong resident of Montclair. She attended Edgemont, Mount Hebron (now Buzz Aldrin) and Glenfield, and is a 1987 graduate of Montclair High School. Known as Chrissy, she currently resides in Upper Montclair with her daughter, Ella, and their dogs, Sammy, Molly, and Lola. She is a trained foster parent and is active with the Edgemont PTA, where she serves as Hospitality Chair.
Marguerite "Maggie" Joralemon, 3rd Ward Councilor
Maggie has lived in Montclair for thirty-four years, as a renter and a homeowner. She moved here with her two young daughters, knowing this would be a great place to raise a family. Her daughters attended Montclair Public Schools and graduated with honors from MHS in 1992 and 1995, respectively.
David Cummings, 4th Ward Councilor
David is a Montclair native, and he has lived here most of his life. The son of Morris and Carole (deceased) Cummings, he graduated from Montclair High School in 1985. He takes pride in the fact that he has had a family member graduate from Montclair High School in every decade since the 1940s. He is married to Kimberly Cummings.
